Ghana's most decorated rapper Sarkodie has revealed how his ambition to feature veteran hiplife musician, Obrafour was prematurely aborted a few years ago. He narrated how the legendary musician snubbed his feeble attempts to perform side by side. 

He revealed this past in an interview on the Dentaa show stating that Obrafour did not give him a favorable reply when he reached out to him back when he just started his journey into the musical realm. 

The rapper revealed how he used his grandmothers phone to call Obrafour after he took his number from his niece [Ama] who he was schooling at the Achimota Preparatory School. He said Obrafour asked his name when he answered the call and he spoke his name which is different fromwhat he is called today, [Sarkodie].

According to Sark, he had a funny name that he could not recall during this interview. Sarkodie stated that Obrafour told him he was travelling and he would get in touch when he returns but it never happened indicating that he now understands why it happened as a result of pressure.


Sarkodie often rhymes in his native language Twi and is considered a "multifaceted rapper" due to the various musical styles he possesses. MTV Base ranked him sixth on its list of the Hottest African MCs in 2014. In 2013, Lynx TV ranked him first on its list of the "Top 10 Ghanaian Rappers of All Time". 

In 2015, AfricaRanking.com ranked him third on its list of the "Top 10 African Rappers of 2015". In 2015, The Guardian listed him as one of its top five hip hop acts on the African continent. He was ranked 8th on Forbes and Channel O's 2013 and 2015 list of the Top 10 Richest/Bankable African Artistes.
