The misunderstanding which started on Sunday night and continued on Monday dawn left many properties destroyed as residents were put into a state of fear but a swift intervention of the police, however, brought the situation under control.

An eyewitness speaking to Soireenews said the whole fight ensued on Sunday night after a misunderstanding generated between one strange Zongo youth who visited a drinking spot at the Ntonso Asante line and another youth from the Ashanti line.

The source further reveals the Zongo youth stabbed the Ashanti youth with a knife and also gave him several cuts on his body which resulted in a near-death.

Meanwhile, Hon. Abdul Latif Musa, assembly member for the Ntonso Zongo, speaking to Nana Peprah said the feud ensued after some unknown youth had caused mayhem at a drinking spot in the Asanti-line after they had drunk some alcohol.

Honourable Latif added that these perpetrators who are aliens of the town fled after they had destroyed many properties at the drinking spot.

Youth from the Ashanti line who suspected the perpetrators had come from the Ntonso Zongo, entered the Ntonso Zongo to retaliate around 1:00 am on Monday dawn which regenerated the fight.

The assembly member further reveals that properties such as items in marketplaces, provision stores, two barbershops, cars, tricycles and many others were destroyed. An amount of Gh¢2,500 belonging to a butcher in the area was stolen in the process.

The entire Ntonso township is currently dominated by security forces as most of these perpetrators have fled into the bush.
