NPP Secretaryship Race: Musah Superior To Resume Tour Of  Greater Accra Region -After He Filles Nomination Forms
Iddrisu Musah Superior
A former Mayor for Tamale who doubles as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Forestry Commission of Ghana, Mr. Musah Superior would soon resume a campaign tour of various constituencies within the Greater Accra Region to finally inform the delegates and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after he filed his nomination forms to contest the position of the NPP General Secretaryship.

Mr. Musah indicated that it is part of his plans if voted as the General Secretary in the upcoming national executive election to operate an open-door policy by way of making himself visible or available at all times in the NPP headquarters in Accra to listen to the grievances of the grassroots members of the party.

According to Musah, although he has already toured a total of one hundred and eighty (180) out of two hundred and seventy-five (275) constituencies across the country, it behooves him to resume another campaign tour, starting in the Greater Accra Region to drum home his good campaign messages and vision to the delegates and members of the NPP.

Mr. Musah who is the current Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Forestry Commission (FC) stressed that his decision comes after he has successfully filed his nomination papers which gave him legal backing to contest NPP’s General Secretary slot in the incoming NPP national executives election.
He pointed out that the Greater Accra Region was chosen as his first choice the region to resume his campaign because he believes that the region holds the majority of the delegates of the governing NPP.

As expected, the NPP General Secretary hopeful will address the delegates and members of the NPP in several constituencies as well as interact with some interest groups of the NPP.
Mr... Musah who is the founding member of the NPP will visit Ada, Sege, Shai Osudoku, Ningo Prampram, Kpone Katamanso, Ashaiman, Tema East, Tema Central, and Tema West.

After this, Mr. Musah will also visit Krowor, Ledzokuku, La Dadekotopon, Korley Klottey, Madina, Adentan, Dome Kwabenya, and Ayawaso West Wuogon.
Among other things, the NPP General Secretary aspirant will use the opportunity to re-outline and break down his vision to contest the position of the NPP General Secretary.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Soireenews.com ahead of his preparation to storm Accra with his good campaign messages, Mr. Musah stated that since he declared his intention to contest for the office of the General Secretary, he has been driving a campaign of peace, uniting and togetherness.

He stressed that the "NPP is full of discerning voters," adding that he believes that his visionary statement would attract these discerning delegates to vote for him massively to win the race to enable him and the party to break eight (8) jinx in 2024.
He reiterated that his decision to contest the race was informed by the numerous calls on him from the rank and file of the party to serve in that role.
Mr. Musah stressed, “as a true, loyal and dedicated member who is desirous in serving the New Patriotic Party in any capacity, I feel obliged to respond positively to the calls by the numerous party people across the country.”

According to him, the government of the NPP had performed well; and “we must build on the successes chalked by the government as part of our strategy to secure victory in 2024.”
He indicated that It was for this reason that he had offered himself for the general secretary position to lead in galvanizing the grassroots to re-build a stronger, thoughtful, and more efficient party capable of energizing and mobilizing first our supporters and sympathizers, and then millions of non-NPP voting citizens across the country to compete meaningfully in the 2024 general elections.
The spirit of “our party,” he said must be brought back.

“We must be ready now and at all times to properly plan and execute an efficient and innovative campaign for victory in the 2024 general elections.
“I have the capacity and the strength to find the lost spirit, revive the dormant party structures across the country, and serve the party people with purpose, greater assertion, and conviction in the mandate l seek. In the coming days, I shall formally make my vision public in my interaction with the party people across the country," Mr. Musah stated.

Mr. Musah promised to push for the urgent reconstruction of the NPP permanent national headquarters to look like the edifice of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) national headquarters in Accra if voted as the General Secretary in the upcoming national executive election.

He pointed out it is a shame on the governing NPP national executives to still operate day-to-day administrative activities in what he described as an old building structure without even renovation.
He asserted, "This is the failure of the current leadership of the NPP so it is time for the delegates to vote out these leaders and bring new ones to come and improve the infrastructural needs of the party and its strong
"Look at our building structures of the national headquarters of the whole ruling party as compared to the National Democratic Congress which is now operating its administrative activities within its complex ultramodern building structures.

"So it is not good for the NPP at all to house the national officers in these small offices, so that is one of the infrastructure challenges of the party that l am coming to solve when voted for as general secretary in July 2022," he gave assurance.
He has given assurance that when elected as General Secretary, he will propose to the National Steering Committee of the party for the establishment of a National Welfare Fund (NWF) to support party members and supporters.

According to him, it was “necessary” for the establishment of the fund to support “our party people who require support in medical bills, education and other social needs.”
He said it was not right that “we don’t have a fund dedicated to supporting our party people in the local constituencies.”

The general secretary hopeful is proposing that the NPP should start with a GH¢ 1000,000 welfare fund.

He explained that every constituency should have a separate welfare bank account.

“When we raise the GH¢1000,000.00 and divide it by 275 constituencies, each constituency will receive GH¢ 3,500 as seed money to open the account."

He said the NPP will then instruct all government appointees, ministers, deputy ministers, chief executives, deputy chief executives, ambassadors, and their deputies, and municipal metropolitan or district chief executives (MMDCEs) to make a monthly contribution to the National Welfare Fund.

This, he said, will be divided and paid directly into the welfare account of all the constituencies.

He said “every appointee will be happy to make such a contribution to support distressed, sick party people. That is how we build a party,” he noted.
In furtherance of this, Mr. Musah proposed that the Vice Chairmen of the party should be assigned specific roles in addition to what the NPP constitution has prescribed.

He said the party should assign the 1st Vice-Chairperson to be in charge of logistics, the 2nd Vice-Chairperson to be in charge of Welfare, and the 3rd Vice-Chairperson to be in charge of identifiable groups.

"We can also repeat this idea at the Regional and Constituency levels. This will make the positions more meaningful at the local organization of the party".
He expressed his commitment to empowering and resourcing members of the party, particularly those at the grassroots.
That, he said, is the only leader of the NPP that can inspire its members to work for the party to remain in government for long.
Mr. Musah was very vocal about empowering members and resourcing party structures and executives to give off their best.
He especially addressed the issue of funding within the party.
In that regard, he said, he would ensure resources are readily made available to all constituencies for running the affairs of the party.
He also stressed the need to compensate hardworking party executives to boost their morale.
He expressed concern about the teething logistic and tool challenges facing the constituency offices of the NPP across the country which he lamented were adversely affecting the works of the constituency executives of the party.
In most of the offices in NPP constituencies in the country, Mr. Musah disclosed that the offices do not have basic office tools such as computers, printers, TVs, and radio sets among others.
Additionally, he lamented that most constituency Secretaries have to use business communication centers to write and print our letters? adding that this is acceptable!
He maintained that It is the failure of the current leadership, stating that he has a strong belief that the NPP will win the 2024 general elections but the leadership must fix the party first.
"Before the talk of breaking the 8 jinxes, we must deliberately roll out a policy to empower our party officers at all levels. This will be my number one priority as the General Secretary. It is our party's executive social power.

"People with some level of social power do well in attracting others than those without it. The NPP needs a leadership that understands and believes in innovation and planning,"  he noted.
Mr. Musah rated himself as the best candidate for the NPP general Secretary position and pledged to assist in the provision of proper tools and logistics to the various NPP offices in the constituencies of the country when given the nod.
