NPP Orders Constituency Heads to Identify and Suspend Persons who Invoked “Curses” on Party Executives

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has directed its constituency party heads to immediately identify and suspend persons who demonstrated and rained “curses” on party executives over the disqualification of some Parliamentary candidates.

The General Secretary of the party, John Boadu speaking at a press briefing today [June 8, 2020] condemned the action of these individuals, adding that, disciplinary actions will be taken against the culprits.

He gave a one-week ultimatum to the constituency heads to make out the culprits and suspend them from the party.

“I am giving them a week, if they fail to do so, we [party executives] will descend from the National and Regional level to undertake the operation ourselves”

Some NPP supporters have rallied against party decisions taken in regards to its parliamentary primaries.

For instance, about 300 party faithful in the Juaben Constituency of the Ashanti Region, last week, defied Covid-19 safety protocols to demonstrate against the disqualification of their preferred aspiring parliamentary candidate.

 

 

The angry delegates, made up of mainly polling station executives also slaughtered sheep and invoked curses on any member of the party hierarchy whose action will lead to the disqualification of Francis Owusu- Akyaw, a mining consultant.
