The outgone Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akatsi South Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region, Mr Leo-Nelson Adzidogah, has stated that breaking the eight (8) year cycle agenda of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) needs deliberate, consistent efforts and perseverance on the part of all members of the party in the country.

According to him, the  NPP as a political party and government must apply all the necessary ingredients in the political toolbox such as unity, discipline, mutual engagement or consultative process, dedication, commitment, timely report and feedback.

He mentioned that conscientious and proper application of these ingredients will push the agenda to a high plateau of success and solidly guarantee the breaking of the 8-year cycle.

"As a political objective, the agenda must be properly worked on to achieve the desired goal.

"To break the 8-year cycle will be a political novelty and a major groundbreaking in the history of the country. In this way, the party and the government must do things differently in order to arrive at this destination," Mr  Adzidogah noted.

In an article written by Mr Adzidogah and copied to the Soireenews, he stated the party cannot be doing the same thing the same way and expect this an extraordinary political outcome.

To drive this agenda, the ex-MCE stressed that there must be coordinators.

He asserted that the coordinators must put strategies together for the operation of this agenda. The centre of their operations must be the Presidential primary and beyond.

According to him, they have to advise on early warning signals that can have the potential to detract from the objective of the agenda and provide the necessary political solutions.

He pointed out that the coordinators must aggressively promote this agenda throughout the country.

"This must not be aligned to or promote the agenda of any Presidential Candidate because any candidate who eventually wins the primary will have to pursue this agenda to its logical conclusion.

"When it is used to promote any candidate in the race,  the pursuit of this agenda will be abandoned when the candidate does not win the primaries. All Presidential Candidates must demonstrate total commitment to this agenda," he said.

He mentioned that another important step to attaining this grandiose agenda is for the party and government to assure the teeming members of the party who keep on complaining about the lack of opportunities to enjoy meaningful lives.

"The supporters need some support and relief. Also, the recent nomination and re-nomination of prospective MMDCES which sparked off-row in some parts of the country must also be addressed. A lot of supporters of the incumbent MMDCES who were not re-nominated were also aggrieved," he noted.

According to him, they expressed utter disappointment at the nomination and re-nomination processes.

Taking a closer account of the two major concerns namely the high expectations and disappointment at the MMDCEs nomination process, he pointed out that it is politically critical to examine these issues and take the necessary steps to assuage the anger of our supporters.

"Breaking the 8 years, which is a major political event we believe should happen must receive extraordinary attention of the leadership of the party and the government.

"When we break the 8 years, it will give a lot of socio-economic advantages for the country. We must not let this agenda slip. We must apply ourselves to it. So far, so good. The government is doing well to be given an extended-term by the people of Ghana.

What is important for us now is to manage the heightened expectations of the party faithful as well as Ghanaians in general.

"This agenda is highly achievable if we seriously put ourselves to it," he stressed.
