NPP Flagbearer-ship Race: I never endorsed any  presidential hopeful – JFK
Newly elected General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Justin Frimpong Kodua, has stated that he will never in his lifetime openly endorse any candidate seeking to represent the party as flag bearer of parliamentary candidate.
The firm and fair politician described himself as a referee in the upcoming party primaries ahead of the 2024 elections saying, “We are all NPP party faithful and what message am I sending across if I openly support one candidate over the other?”
Lawyer Kodua insists such an action will only cause bitterness and disunity in the party, advising party officials against engaging in any such actions in the near future.
Learning from past experiences, the politician told Don Kwabena Prah on Happy98.9FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political talk show, “similar acts affected us a lot, especially in the last elections. As at this moment delegates of the party know who must lead us in 2024.”
He similarly revealed plans to present before the party’s Steering Committee a proposal seeking to bar any national, regional or constituency executive from openly endorsing any presidential or parliamentary candidate hopeful. “If this law is put in place no one will undertake such actions.”
“We need to be united no matter what as some people are vindictive and may cause trouble if they lose the election and then attribute their defeat to your endorsement of another candidate. As a party we need to reach that level where there will be no tit for tat. We need peace to exist in the party,” he added.
