Bishop Charles Agyinasare is asking stakeholders to take action on behalf of the movie industry in Ghana.

The Founder and leader of Perez Church International emphatically stated that the movie industry is dying, and no amount of prayers said will revive it.

Per his estimation, only conscious action and innovation will bring about a revival in the industry.

"the Ghana movie industry is dying, and prayers won’t revive it. We can only solve the problem by innovation and action." He noted.

The Bishop accused telenovelas of contributing to the decline of the movie industry in Ghana.

Telenovelas have invaded the airwaves so much that their mere existence now threatens the very fabric of Ghanaian culture because citizens are now taking in an alien way of life instead of the local that Ghanaians offer.

This, he maintained, is what has been destroying the morale fibres of Ghanaians.

“For instance, American movies portray the character of Americans, the drugs, their lifestyle and the environment in which they live, so our movie industry should emulate and do the same.”

He said this while speaking to Christian Agyei Frempong on Anigye Mere on Onua Fm.

Movies that tell the story of Ghana are no longer being played, he noted.

The movies that had been made failed because there was no means of selling them on the international markets, he continued.

“Even when God rains manna from heaven, you need to go out and collect them. Our movie industry is far beyond prayers for survival. All we need is a pragmatic approach and action to rub shoulders with the international market.”
