Northern Regional Minister Designate Pledge To Foster Peace And Development
Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu has assured the committee of his readiness to work with the chiefs and people of Dagbon and the northern region at large to maintain the peace of the people.

The Northern Regional Minister-Designate, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu has pledged to foster peace and champion the course of development in the region.
He made these remarks when he appeared before the appointments committee of Parliament on Thursday dawn March 4, 2021.
The nominee was optimistic about changing the status quo in the region from not soo good to better by putting much support and resources into notable areas like Education, Agriculture, water and sanitation and business growth.
The regional minister nominee was able to articulate a great short to long term vision for the region.
Alhaji Shani assured the committee of his readiness to work with the chiefs and people of Dagbon and the northern region at large to maintain the peace the people enjoy now and also give the needed support and security to ensure that the region wins back its lost glory.
He was quick to add that, he was not going to mingle with chieftaincy affairs whatsoever and that he will be a unifier in resolving all conflict-related issues in the region which include; Karaga, Nanton, Bimbila and Yong Dakpemyili in the Tamale South constituency.
On tricycle accidents and indiscipline on the principal streets of Tamale, the nominee promised to enforce education amongst motorists and road users especially minors who ply the tricycle business without recourse to obeying road traffic regulations and that, he intends to achieve this feat through the support of the motor traffic department of the Ghana police service.
The chairman of the appointments committee Joseph Osei Owusu urged the nominee to open avenues for young people in the region and mentor them to be future leaders of tomorrow taking into consideration his rich business background.
In attendance included the Regional Coordinating Director Alhaji Issahaku Alhassan, Dr Alhassan Sulemana Anamzooya - Chief executive officer of Northern Development Authority, MP for Karaga- Dr Mohammed Amin Adam and the northern Regional secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Sibdoo Alhassan Yakubu and the immediate past Northern regional minister Salifu Saeed.
