The General Manager of the newly opened Dagbon FM told that the radio is a platform to lift the culture and tradition of the Northern Region.

The Chiefs of Dagbon has officially opened Dagbon FM to business operations on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, in Tamale in the Northern Region.

The radio station has been unveiled to be part of the Dagbon community in a quest to inform, entertain and educate the masses. Dagbon FM is a subsidiary of Class Media Group with about 10 radio stations across the country and 1 international radio station in Spain.

The process was witnessed in a colourful ceremony at the front view of the station.  

The occasion was also used to support some orphans with sewing machines in some communities in the region.

A renowned broadcaster, Alhaji Salifu Kalala advised radio presenters in the region to place integrity upfront in their line of duty.

He said “radio presenters must stop following politicians because of money and stop singing praises of politicians during programming.

"I would also call on management of radio stations to be paying their staff well to motivate them.

"I want to tell management to as well streamline the staff strength in order to allow smooth payment of salaries of staff.

"I also want to add that radio presenters must be truthful and diligent in information you put on air.”

25 sewing machines were also donated to orphans in some communities in the region by the Class Media Group.

The Human and Logistics manager for Class Media Group, Miss Lydia Hagan on behalf of the media company presented the machines to the various entertainment chiefs of beneficiaries communities for onward presentation to the individual beneficiaries.

She, therefore, called on the people of Dagbon to see Dagbon FM as their property and give it the necessary support.

The General Manager of the newly opened Dagbon FM, Alhaji Rashid Bawa alias BBC indicated that Dagbon FM has come to lift the culture and tradition of the Northern Region.

He used the opportunity to convey a heartfelt appreciation of the people of Dagbon to the initiator of the radio station, Alhaji Seidu Agogo for such an initiative.

Alhaji BBC said the radio station has come to continually extend supporting hands to the needy in society. He also said Dagbon FM would very soon outline impactful on-air programmes for the people of Dagbon.
