Shatta Wale has indirectly asked the government to allow him and his celebrity colleagues to "model" the Coronavirus vaccine to their fans.

According to him, between himself and his colleagues, the likes of Sarkodie, Medikal and Stonebwoy, there are many Ghanaians who look up to them.

If they are paid to take the vaccine, a lot of their fans would be encouraged to take the vaccine too, he said.

He made this statement on Twitter after President Nana Akufo-Addo, Vice President Bawumia with spouses, Former President John Mahama, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and other high-profile citizens publicly received the first dose of the 600,000 COVID-19 vaccines that have arrived in the country.

“I wish our government will let me and my colleagues like AmgMedikal, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy set that leadership example to our fans in this COVID times. This one just noko fioo. We will also do it just for the love of motherGhana 3y3 a munkai y3n wai. #1GH,” He said.

This comes barely six days after Ghana became the first country to receive the delivery of Covax coronavirus vaccines.

On Wednesday, 24th of February, 2021, 600,000 AstraZeneca shots landed in a plane as part of the global effort to boost vaccine access.

Plans are now underway to distribute the AstraZeneca vaccines in the country’s coronavirus epicentres namely; Greater Accra, Western and Ashanti Regions.

A list of areas in Greater Accra designated for the COVID-19 vaccination has also been released by the Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service.
