No Grammy For Ghana Because Artistes are Busy With Politics - NAM 1

NAM 1 has pinned that lack of recognition for Ghanaians in music's biggest awards on their involvement in politics.

The Chief Executive Officer of Zylofon Media has called on Ghanaians to not expect an artiste from Ghanaians to win a Grammy Award as long as politicians still uses artistes against each other for personal gain.

He made his assertion in reaction to Stonebwoy's message, who congratulated Nigeria for her big win at the Granny Awards after her Wizkid and Burna Boy picked up maiden awards at the event.

Stonebwoy, the Reggae/Dancehall musician who won the award for Best International Act at the 2015 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards tweeted his displeasure at Ghana's non-involvement in he show.

“With all due respect, let all other African nations give it up for Nigeria for their constant efforts in holding the mantle for Africa when it comes to entertainment on the global scene. Congrats for holding it down at the Grammys... As for Ghana, smh [shaking my head], I'll be back…” He wrote.

Nam 1 was quick to point out that there will be no Grammy Awards for Ghanaians as long as they still get involved in partisan politics.

“Where awkwardness is upheld by an irony of the sick driven in a cab & the dead conveyed in an ambulance,”

" Where the throat of vision, creativity, and innovation are cruelly slashed on the altar of partisan politics”.What results do u expect my guy?” He wrote.

The 63rd annual awards were held in Los Angeles on Sunday and saw Nigeria’s Burna Boy walk home with the Best Global Music Album award while ‘Brown Skin Girl’, a Beyonce music video which features Nigeria’s Wizkid won ‘Best Music Video’.
