A 30kg shipment of methamphetamine worth $1.2 million (£960,000) was intercepted by Nigeria's anti-drug agency on its way to the UK through Lagos' main airport.

 The methamphetamine shipment was hidden in containers of powdered custard as part of a consolidated cargo headed to London, according to a statement released by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Sunday.

Charles Chinedu Eze, a suspected drug lord, and two other people were detained at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, according to NDLEA.

In addition, Mr. Eze's property in the affluent Lekki neighborhood has been seized by detectives after they discovered his personal identification papers during a search.

According to reports, the primary suspect left the UK in December 2022 after being implicated in a drug-related offense.
