The Sunyani Municipal Health Insurance Manager, Mr. Maxwell Mahama has warned service providers to desist from extorting monies from clients else their service contract shall be terminated.

He was speaking with Soiree news after the unannounced visit to the Sunyani Municipal Hospital and the Bono Regional Hospital after an informant hinted them on the unfortunate situation of the facility charging on conditions the scheme is paying for.

Mr Mahama however called on the clients to report any unscrupulous situation to the Health Insurance office for proper follow up any time they are charged for services at any facility.

He charged the facilities to desist from the act because it is a criminal offence that can lead to imprisonment or cancellation of the contract.

He also highlighted the benefit of Health insurance as it is helping in controlling the death rate, therefore measures are in place to increase membership as half of the population of Ghana are not covered probably due to the inconveniences they go through.
