The New Juaben North Municipality nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Madam Comfort Asante, has finally secured the needed number of votes to be approved by Assembly members on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

The aspiring MCE for New Juaben North failed to secure the requisite two-thirds votes of the total votes cast on Friday, October 8, 2021.

Fifteen out of the twenty-nine voted in her favour, whilst Fourteen voted against her out of the total 29 elected and government appointee Assembly members, representing 50.2%.

Amazingly, Madam Comfort Asante has secured overwhelmed confirmation after her first scare by securing 100% of the total 29 votes yesterday, October 13, 2021.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong in his speech expressed gratitude to the entire Assembly members for their overwhelmed endorsement over the confirmation of the nominee, adding that the decision taken would help set the Assembly’s activities on toes for the right development it deserves.

He indicated, that the confirmation of the nominee would also facilitate the development agenda of the government as the MCE would responsibly steer the affairs of the Assembly.

The MCE, Madam Comfort Asante in her remarks thanked the Assembly members for their total support in retaining her to continue the many projects and programs started during her first term in the Assembly.

She pledged to remain relentless in ensuring the municipality gets its fair share of the national cake and called for support from constituents.

Madam Comfort Asante served as the MCE for the New Juaben Municipality before it was split into two.

The now New Juaben North and South municipalities respectively. 

The election was supervised by the Electoral Commission and attended by the Member of Parliament for the area, Nana Adjei Boateng and other functional dignitaries.
