Niger Delta Minister, Godswill Akpabio has listed former governors of the region as the people who have profited the most from the NDDC scandal.

He named former governors of Delta State James Ibori and Emmanuel Uduaghan, former Governor of Abia State Orji Uzor Kalu, and Senator Ifeanyi Ararume as the individuals who have been staunch beneficiary the corruption story at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

 

 

Akpabio had earlier disclosed that lawmakers were the ones that stood to gain the most in a House Committee bearing on July 20,2020. He has now mentioned the names after being threatened by Gbajabiamila, who asked him to produce the names of the lawmakers within 48 hours or face the full wrath of the law.

Now, in a document pinned to his response to the ultimatum given by the House of Reps, Akpabio has listed the senators who received 74 contracts from the commission between 2017 to date. The document was titled.

'Some Niger Delta Development Commission Contracts Allegedly Given to Some Members of the National Assembly (Senate and House of Representatives).'

Each contract awarded in 2018, according to Punch, was estimated to range between N400m and N560m each. The project linked to Ibori was the emergency repairs of Onoghove community road from Ajanesan to Western Delta University at the cost of N485.7m. Linked to Uduaghan was emergency repairs of Close B, Alhaji Estate & Environs, Rumuodomaya, Port Harcourt at the cost of N429m.

Linked to Kalu was the emergency repairs on road projects linked to Kalu are in Abia State, and the costs ranged from N517m to N560m.
