NDC Suspends Allottey Jacobs over “Anti-Party Conduct”

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended its former Central Regional Chairman, Mr Bernard Allotey Jacobs.

According to a letter addressed to Mr Jacobs and signed by the National Chairman of the NDC, Mr Samuel Ofosu  Ampofo, the former Central Regional boss of the party is being suspended for “persistent anti-party conduct”.

“The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress, acting on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, at its meeting held on Wednesday, the 6th day of May, 2020, has suspended you forthwith as a member of the party, pursuant to articles 46(1), 46(6) and 46(8) of the party’s constitution for your persistent anti-party conduct,” the letter stated.

It added that the matter had been referred to the Disciplinary Committee of the NDC for further action.

Earlier, the NDC withdrew its participation from popular political radio show on Accra-based Peace over claims of “unfair panelling system”

A statement from the party signed by its National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, asserted that the main reason for the planned boycott has to do with “ the unreasonable decision of the Producers and Host of the program to permanently reserve one (1) of the two (2) slots the party has traditionally had on Wednesdays on the show to Mr. Allotey Jacobs, who is often introduced by the host of the program as a ‘Social Commentator with strong leanings to the NDC’, ostensibly to spite the NDC”

The statement added that, the NDC arrived at this decision because all efforts to get a fair representation for the party on the show proved futile.
