NDC Internal Election Not War; Campaign On  Issues Not insults! –Ade Coker Warns Aspirants
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Joseph Kobina Ade-Coker, has stated that the persons aspiring for different constituency executive positions in the NDC must conduct themselves properly and refrain from engaging themselves in campaign of insults and character assassinations.
According to Mr Coker who is seeking for reelection, the internal fightings in the wake of the contesting positions within the NDC does argur well for the unity and peace within the NDC.
He stressed that the internal within the NDC should not be seen by aspirants as a political war, saying that contest to be seen as the family affairs.
"I am using this platform to state that the constituency executives forthcoming elections we in the NDC are coming to conduct in 275 constituencies in the 16 regions across the country is the family and friends affairs. But currently when you do social media platforms, self seeking members and supporters of the NDC are using the platforms to insults and attack hard won reputations of some potential candidates. l must say that these practices are not good because we are one big umbrella family-NDC.
"And that some people have offered themselves to serve the party and what you can do is tell your people of your campaign messages and the people should compare them with your brother who you are contesting the same position with.
"Look, the executive positions election we are about to conduct if the persons who are contesting the same position with you see you at the open places, these persons would frown their faces and their demeanour clearly shows that that persons did not want to see your face. If he seens you he even didn't want to talk to you.
"If he comes to your  office too he will not be willing to greet you so why! There are internal debates that these people said these persons are from different factions. And other persons are belonging to other factions. So they would go and bring another person to come and contest he or she. I must say that there are no need for us to be engaging in these practices because it is not necessary and needless. Let us stop these insults and character assassination.
"If we go to the social media platforms, you would see that these people are using the platforms to rain insults on people's reputations. They are using the social media platforms to dent the hard won reputation of the prominent personalities in the society. So going for election is not a war," Mr Coker warned.
Following this development, the hard working NDC chairman urged aspirants to stick to issues based campaign that will ultimately inure to the NDC'S bid to wreckle the presidential seat from the New Patriotic Party and prevent the NDC from 'Break The Eight jinx - retain political power beyond eight years.
Mr Coker made the call when he appeared on the XYZ Television in Accra on Thursday October 6, 2022 to discuss wide range of issues of national concerns.
He urged the party delegates to elect competent and committed people at the upcoming constituency elections who will have the party at heart and work hard to win the 2024 general elections.
He further tasked the members to avoid voting for aspirants who will abdicate their positions after being elected, adding that the delegates must diligently elect executives based on their competence and not a faction they associate themselves with.
The NDC recently completed election of polling station officials - a process marred by some skirmishes in parts of the country.
The date for election of constituency-level executives is due to start soon and will be followed by regional, and national executives.
The election of a flagbearer for the 2024 election will be the final leg of elections by the party.
