Nation Health Insurance Scheme Providers Cautioned Against Extortion on Clients.

The Health providers of the National Health Insurance Scheme in the Bono Regional capital Sunyani have been cautioned against extortions on their clients.

Speaking to the Sunyani Municipal Health Insurance Manager, Maxwell Mahama siad, it has come to the notice of their office that, some subscribers to the scheme are being extorted by the health providers within the Municipality.

According to him, most of the clients complained about the Sunyani Municipal Hospital which is violating the sections 18(a)&(b) of the agreement between the National Health Insurance Scheme and the providers which the providers shall not request any payment for health services rendered to any subscriber but that is not the case of the facility in question, he said.

He assured the subscribers to be calm since the management will see to it that health providers of the scheme will be dealt with since should National Health Insurance Scheme own any provider, the siad provider is obliged to use the appropriate channels to redeem its arrears which the always have been paying their providers as agreed.

He finally implored the health providers of the National Health Insurance Scheme to adhere to the contractual agreement to make the scheme run since it is a national asset for us to cherish and protect it from collapsing either.
