The movie which she stars in ‘Coming To Africa’ wins 3 awards in total at the ceremony

Ghanaian actress, Nana Ama McBrown, has won the prestigious Best Actress in a Feature Movie Award at the Las Vegas Black Film Festival for her role in the romantic comedy, “Coming to Africa".

Although she was not able to collect her award personally as she was not in attendance, it was accepted on her behalf by Anwar Jamison, the director of the movie.

The film was nominated for six Jury Awards at the four-day festival which screened a distinctive lineup of narrative features, documentaries, music videos, and short films at the Mediterranean-themed Suncoast Hotel & Casino, located at 9090 Alta Drive in Las Vegas.

Along with the three wins in the categories of Best Romance, Best Comedy, and Best Actress in a Feature, the film was also nominated for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Feature.

The movie, written and directed by Anwar Jamison, premiered at the 7th annual Las Vegas Black Film Festival (LVBFF) in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is a romantic comedy, which explores the themes of racism, classism, and social consciousness behind the backdrop of contemporary black love.

“Coming to Africa” was shot in Memphis, Tennessee, and Accra, Ghana.

Last year, Jamison traveled to Accra, Ghana, to shoot “Coming to Africa” during the country’s Year of Return celebration. The movie is the fourth feature film that he has written, directed and executive produced.
