Nana Akufo Addo launches Public Inquiry into unrest at Ejura

The Interior Minister is to provide a detailed report from the Inquiry, with recommendations for appropriate action, within ten days, i.e., by  9th July 2021, to President Akufo Addo.

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has finally shown great concern in the unrest at Ejura when angry youth clashed with security personnel on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, following the killing of social media activist, Ibrahim Muhammed aka Kaaka.

Police in the Ashanti Region has arrested two persons identified as Ibrahim Isaka and Fuseini Alhassan in connection with the killing before launching investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the violent clashes leading to the death of two and the injury of four, including a military Lieutenant at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

In a release dated June 30, 2021, from the Communications Directorate of the Office of the President, Nana Akufo Addo has instructed the Interior Minister, Hon. Ambrose Derby “to conduct, forthwith, a Public Inquiry into the circumstances that led to the unfortunate occurrences of Tuesday, 29th June 2021.”

The release signed by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications disclosed that “the interior Minister is to provide a detailed report from the Inquiry, with recommendations for appropriate action, within ten days, i.e., by  9th July 2021, to President Akufo Addo.”

The president further expressed his condolences to the deceased families and “wished the injured a speedy recovery.”
