The elections held at the Physicians and Surgeons College yesterday saw a run-off after none of the candidates drew more than half of the ballot cast.

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has sent a congratulatory message to Mr. Kurt Okraku for his victory in the Ghana Football Association Presidential Polls.

The elections held at the Physicians and Surgeons College yesterday saw a run-off after none of the candidates drew more than half of the ballot cast.

Kurt Okraku led the race in the first round with 44 votes whiles George Afriyie pulled 40. Nana Yaw Amponsah recorded 27 votes as Fred Pappoe surprisingly got 6 votes. Amanda Clinton and George Ankoma disappointingly had no vote.

The declaration of the second round results also witnessed none of the three candidates unable to record the minimum number of 60 votes.

Kurt still led with 59 votes and George Afriyie pulled 43 whiles Nana Yaw Amponsah`s vote decreased from 27 votes to 16 in the second round.

Mr George Afriyie prevented a third round after he conceded defeated to Mr. Kurt Okraku to make him the 24th Ghana FA president.

The president sent the message whiles on assognment at the 18th Non-Aligned Movement Summit, being held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

“I extend warm congratulations to Mr. Kurt E.S. Okraku on his election as the 24th President of the Ghana Football Association. He has earned the confidence and trust of the football fraternity, and his victory is well deserved. Football remains the passion of our nation, and I urge all to rally behind him in realizing his vision for the growth and development of Ghana Football.”
