Nana Addo's second-term Ministers will 'not exceed 85' - Eugene Arhin reveals

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reduced the number of ministries in his second term administration from 36 to 29.

Consequently, the number of ministers, deputy ministers and regional ministers to be appointed will not surpass 85.

This was disclosed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin, per an article by the Graphic.com.

He said the list of qualified Ghanaians who will serve as ministers and deputy ministers in President Akufo-Addo’s second term will be released this later this week as soon as Parliament constitutes its Appointments Committee.

“The ministers and deputy ministers to be appointed will be a blend of new and old members of the President’s last government. They will be national in character and the ministries will reinforce his focus for the second term — accelerate job and wealth creation, strengthen the private sector and see to the rapid development of the country,” Mr Arhin indicated.

Mr Arhin noted that that the list would exclude former MP-appointed- Ministers who lost their re-election bid in the 2020 polls.

The President will communicate the list of his ministers to the eighth Parliament for vetting by the Appointments Committee and approval by the plenary.

Meanwhile, Akufo-Addo has in a press release announced that Akosua Frema Osei-Opare and Eugene Kofi Bentum Arhin will be retained at post to serve as Chief of Staff and Director of Communications at the Presidency respectively.

Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante  and  Personal assistant to the President, Saratu Atta, maintained their positions.

However,  some staff at the Jubilee House were replaced, pending 'consultation with the yet-to-be-constituted State Council'.
