My heart is bleeding for the Embattle Assin North MP - K.T. Hammond

The member of parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Honourable  Kwabena Tahir Hammond has said that his heart is blooding for the Embattled Asin North MP Honourable. James Gyakye Quason for the trouble he has found himself.

According to Honourable K. T. Hammond, the NDC as a political party will not even see off James to the gate of Nsawam prisons when going to jail after being found culpable.

MR KT Hammond explained that he has heard the NDC suggesting that, the government of the NPP is prosecuting the MP to reduce their numbers to pass the electronic transfer levy bill (E-Levy).

He said, that is the subject matter, but what they should have their mind to is whether the member has exhausted all the legal requirements that make him eligible to be a member of parliament and vote.

Speaking to some members of the parliamentary press corps in an exclusive interview after adjournment of sitting on Friday, 4th January 2022.

The former deputy minister for energy revealed that on the 6th and 7th of January 2021 when the 8th parliament was inaugurated and was about to elected the speaker, this issue of qualification to vote came about that the Assin North mp does not qualify to vote because of his dual citizenship.

'I called the former deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Honourable Dominic Anyone and spoke with him about it. I told him to win my brother (Jame GyakyeQuason) to leave and that if what they are saying is true, he should leave for God sake' he stated.

Mr Hammond asserted that the provisions of Art  105 of the 1992 constitution are pretty clear beyond arguments. It states that; A person who sits or votes in parliament knowing or having reasonable grounds for knowing that he or she is not entitled so to do commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction, to such penalty as shall be prescribed by or under an Act of parliament.

'If that wasn't bad enough, we had precedence of our brother, the late Adamu Sekendey who had gone through the same processes and in the end, he was disqualified and it didn't end there, he was prosecuted punished' he elusidated.

The Adansi MP and Nkosoahene with a broken heart said, he was afraid for Honourable James and his heart was blooding for him but in the circumstances when they had claimed that they had elected Bagbin as the speaker, they were prepared to wheeled who ever irrespective their qualification.

So who now comes out to suggest government want to reduce their numbers to pass E-Levy.
