The Member of Parliament for Sunyani East Constituency, Lawyer Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh has cut the sod for the construction of ultra-modern classroom blocks for two schools in his constituency.

The Member of Parliament for Sunyani East Constituency, Lawyer Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh has cut the sod for the construction of ultra-modern classroom blocks for two schools in his constituency.

A Unit KG classroom block for Police Basic School and a three-unit classroom block for the Seventh Day Adventist Basic School all at Abesim, Sunyani.

The projects are expected to be completed in a six-month period.

Addressing the media during the sod-cutting ceremony, the representative of the MP, Ansu Kumi who is the former Presiding Member for the Sunyani East Municipal Assembly, stated that, the gesture was in fulfillment of the MPs promise made to his constituents to ensure quality education in his area.

He said, one of the MP's priorities is education which he believes is the only key to success.

Mr. Ansu Kumi however urged authorities of the two schools to ensure good maintenance culture once the project is completed to enable it to serve its aimed purpose.

On his part, the Sunyani Municipal Education Director Mrs. Theresah Kyere Boakye commended the MP for his massive contribution towards the development of education in the Municipality.

According to her, the MP has never turned down their request whenever they called him for help.

Mrs. Boakye disclosed that schools under the directorate have been able to accommodate more students and abide by the COVID-19 safety protocols due to the construction of school blocks in the Municipality.

At the Police Basic School in Sunyani Abesim, the Deputy Manager for Police Educational Unit, Mr. Prince Kwasi Sey commended the MP and called on him to try to expand the facility for them.

He however indicated that the project is timely as the school was at a state where it has converted its canteen block to a classroom.

The Head Mistress for SDA Basic School at Abesim, Madam Hanna Agyei also commended the MP for his timely intervention.

She however said, the school lacks a toilet facility, a football park, and unstable electricity, therefore, the government of Ghana should intervene.
