A swarm of bees has attacked Tutu Basic primary and the JHS school in the Akuapem North Municipality.

The omen occurred last Friday at about 12:30 pm when the students had just closed from school.

Eyewitnesses say JHS one students had thrown sticks and stones into the hive harbouring the bees in the vicinity. This immediately provoked them and they descended on the students.

About 70 pupils and teachers were bitten severely and this led to 7 of the student's sustaining severe pains and were being rushed to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital for treatment, while others were sent to Medical private hospital for treatment.

Some were treated and discharged the same day but about three out of the number were in critical conditions so were admitted for proper assessment.

Eye-witness account further indicates that a driver had packed his 'trotro vehicle in the school's compound to convey some KG 1&2, class pupils when the bees invaded the school stinging them severely.

He narrated that it took a brave intervention of a lady to enter into the trotro to save all the kids.

The driver, on the other hand, suffered stings of the bees and was sent to a hospital for treatment but he was discharged that very day.
