Moderator of Presbyterian Church of Ghana Alert: Rev. Minister Running Manhean Oechler Presby As One-Man Church!
Reverend Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Oechler Congregation, Manhean Sub-District is gradually losing its identity as a PCG.
Rather worrying, Soireenews.com’s investigations have unfolded that the Oechler Congregation in Manhean in the Ga West Municipal Assembly (GWMA), Greater Accra Region, is being ran as a one-man church!
This is because the current Session of the Congregation headed by Rev. Amon Ashie, is doing things completely at variance with the traditions of the PCG.
The congregation’s Sunday services do not, in any way, reflect the principles of a Presbyterian church in Ghana.

Soireenews.com’s findings revealed that for almost two (2) years now, the Oechler Congregation has been running services without a Choir and a Singing Band which are two intergenerational groups that distinguish the PCG from the other Christian denominations.
These two intergenerational groups which play significant roles in evangelism and maintenance of the PCG’s culture and traditions have been dissolved by Rev. Ashie and his session.
Indeed the session sees nothing wrong with the congregation having no singing band and a choir.  However, Soireenews.com underground scouting discovered that Rev. Ashie’s decision to dissolve the singing band and the choir stemmed from the point that these two groups had amongst them the aged.
The dissolution of the two groups, this news outlet learned, has brought enormous pressure on the Praises Team to take up extra responsibilities in the church.
Currently, the praises team performs the role of both the singing band and the choir, something that is rare in any Presbyterian churches in Ghana.

In the course of our investigations, it was also uncovered that the whole electoral process of the current Session members was fraught with several irregularities.
One of such irregularities, Soireenews.com discovered, was that Rev. Ashie used a whole one week to announce to members who had been nominated for election to the Session, something he could have done in a day.
This development was viewed by majority of the congregation as an agenda by Rev. Ashie to have his favourites elected onto the Session, which ultimately he ended achieving.
Sources close to the Oechler Session told this online portal that members of the Session have become ‘stooges’ of Rev. Ashie, which situation allows him [the man of God] to take unilateral decisions and at the detriment of the church members.

Furthermore, and bent on executing his agenda, the sources hinted this portal that Rev. Ashie brought Presbyters outside the Manhean sub-district to vet the nominees.
“We did not have a single Presbyter from our congregation serving on the committee to vet the nominees,” a deep throat source told  Soireenews.com.
When our reporter contacted Rev. Ashie on his mobile phone, he stated:“There is no issue in my church so I cannot speak to any issue. I am not interested in any issue, and I am not the Moderator of the Presbyterian of Ghana of Ghana.”
