Mismanagement of resources is the plague of Ghana's challenges-Dr. Sam Ankrah

The 2024 Presidential hopeful,Dr. Sam Ankrah has lashed out at the leadership of the country for the mismanagement of the country's resources.

This, according to him is the bane for the country's age long stagnation.

Shedding light on the country's, state of affairs, the prominent economist and potential candidate in the upcoming presidential election thinks things could have been done differently to put the country on the path of progress.

Speaking at the Inclab Talk conference held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr. Ankrah attributed the country’s stagnant state to the mismanagement of its natural and human resources.

Dr. Ankrah emphasized that Ghana, despite gaining independence earlier than many African and foreign nations, has failed to achieve substantial development due to the baf leadership both in the past and the present.

He pointed out that the incompetence exhibited by the country’s leaders, coupled with the lack of demand for quality and effective leadership from its citizens, has perpetuated the cycle of underdevelopment.

As a certified economist and aspiring leader in the 2024 elections, Dr. Ankrah highlighted the abundance of natural and human resources in Ghana.

He however bemoaned the duration for the stagnanation suggesting that a better management of resources could spur the country forward.

He added that a conscious effect at managing resources would enable the country break free from the economic and poverty chains imposed during the colonial era.

Dr. Ankrah attributed this to the prolonged period of power being vested in the wrong and incompetent leadership.

Furthermore, Dr. Ankrah underscored the importance of competency and accountability from both the government and the people for Ghana to catch up with its independence counterpart, Singapore.

He stressed that a culture of accountability across all sectors of society would not only propel the country forward but also combat the pervasive corruption that plagues African leaders, including those in Ghana.

Dr. Ankrah’s speech resonated with the audience, who recognized the urgent need for a transformational leadership that would effectively manage Ghana’s resources and steer the country towards sustainable development. As the 2024 presidential elections draw nearer, many are looking to candidates like Dr. Ankrah to address these critical issues and usher in a new era of progress and prosperity for Ghana.
