Minority calls government to institute measures to store products

Following the incessant increment of petroleum products, the minority in Parliament are calling on the BOST to as a matter of urgency find a way to store more petroleum products to reduce the rate of increase in petroleum products.

This has become necessary following the uncontrollable levels of petroleum products. The Minority's call was a reaction to the deputy energy minister, William Owureku Aidoo’s response to a question filed by Richard Gyan Mensah, MP for Gomoa West on the causes of price hikes of fuel in the country.

Additionally, the MP sought to enquire from the minister about measures put in place by the government to curtail the abnormal increment of petroleum products in the country.

Ghanaians are constantly reacting to the increasing petroleum products in the country which kept impacting almost everything in the country.

Given that, there are calls for the government to impress upon BOST to store more products to mitigate the impact on the Ghanaian citizenry. In responding to the questions filed by the MP, the Deputy Energy Minister re-affirmed that the geopolitical tension between Ukraine and Russia accounts for the incessant hikes in petroleum products.

Addressing a Press conference, MP for Gomoa West stressed the need for government to put in place an effective mechanism to arrest the depreciation of the cedi.
