CITATION IN HONOR OF PROFESSOR EMERITUS EHK AKAHO PRESENTED ON THE OCCASION OF THE MAIDEN HEROES DAY OF MEPE ST KIZITO SENIOR HIGH TECHNICAL SCHOOL
In recognition of his unequaled dedication and firm commitment to the development of Mepe St Kizito Senior High Technical School, we proudly honor Professor Emeritus EHK Akaho. As a visionary leader and esteemed benefactor, Professor Akaho’s efforts have indelibly transformed the landscape of our institution.
Through his relentless advocacy, the school witnessed the construction, furnishing, and equipping of the science resource center, a collaborative project supported by the Japanese Embassy and the Rotary Club.
His influence also extended to getting his good friend, the late Alhaj Haruna, to put up the Haruna Block which initially served as the school’s Boys dormitory and now the school’s food storage facility.
Through his engagement with the Get-Fund Secretariat, Professor Akaho secured the construction of the boys' and girls' dormitories as well as a twelve-unit classroom block, which collectively had not only shot up enrolment, but also significantly dealt with the nuisance of classrooms-under-trees.
Furthermore, he funded the construction of the Senior House Mistress’ bungalow and the main school gate with its ancillary security posts. Last but not least, he ensured the safety of our technological resources by lobbying Mepe Citizens in the USA for the provision of burglar-proof protection around the new ICT laboratory.
The impacts of these contributions are timeless and profound: the transition of Mepe St Kizito SHTS from a day school to a full boarding school, the introduction of General and Agricultural Science programs, and enhanced security for our ICT resources have significantly elevated the standard of education offered to our students.
Beyond these tangible contributions, Professor Akaho has left an indelible mark as the first associate past student to represent MESKOSA on the Board of Governors.
His journey to Uganda to research the origins of the school's name, St Kizito—drawing from the Martyrs of Uganda—has enriched our history and led to the institutionalization of St Kizito Day, celebrated on the 3rd of June.
Additionally, his donation of the St Kizito bust and sanctuary stands as a testament to his deep-rooted commitment to our heritage.
Moreover, Professor Akaho’s lead role in the establishment and promotion of the Dadome Technical and Vocational Institute project promises practical support and opportunities for the technical students of Mepe St Kizito, further sharpening their skills and shaping their future.
For his selfless service, dedication, and lasting contributions to Mepe St Kizito SHTS, we, the entire school community and stakeholders, extend our deepest gratitude and highest respect to Professor Emeritus EHK Akaho.
