A native of Mepe-Avetakpor living in the United States of America (UAS), Mr Francis Kafui Torku, has expressed congratulatory message to the Chief of Mepe Gbavie-Hodzefeme Divisional Clan, Togbe Kordzo Hodze II for displaying his humanitarian efforts to support hundreds of residents being affected by a communicable skin disease at Mepe-Avetakpo and its surrounding communities in the Ho West District of the Volta Region.


According to Mr Torku, Togbe Kordzo Hodze' s proactive efforts aim to provide medical treatment to hundreds of residents, including children and adults, who are struggling with the strange skin disease.

However, Mr Torku through Mepe Avetakpor including sub-chief of Mepe Gbavie-Dekume Divisional Clan, Togbe Kwasi Amedor III and queen mother of the Gbavie-Dekume, Mama Seme II could not hide his joy when he sends his congratulatory message to Togbe Kordzo Hodze II and the Chairman of Mepe Reform Union (MRU), Honourable Senanu Asitiakor for displaying of their humanitarianism to save lives with timely donation for skin disease medical treatment for the affected victims.

Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com via telephone call on Friday March 11, 2025, Mr Torku through the residents of Mepe Avetakpor also commended the entire members of Mepe Reform Union for showing their love, supports and prayers to the residents effected with the skin communicable disease. 

"We will never forget about you for your timely intervention to help the people of Mepe Avetakpor following the outbreak of the communicable skin disease epidemic which has affected hundreds of children and adults in the area," Torku stated.

According to him, he was very thankful to the members of the Union for timely delegation of Honourable Senanu Asitiakor to personally pay a visit to Mepe Avetakpor to ascertain the health challenges confronting the residents of the area.

"Togbe Kordzo Hodze II really deserves to be congratulated by many of us for timely releasing the cash through the Chairman of the Mepe Reform Union to purchase prescribed medicines to be handed over to the Volta Regional Health Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Chrysantus Kubio to treat skin disease at Mepe Avetakpor and its surrounding communities.

"I am very impress about the way and manner all the members of Mepe Reform Union have openly demonstrated or displayed their support for the people affected by this strange disease at Avetakpor. I believe that we are moving forward to bring the changes to the lives of the people in Mepe and its adjoining communities," Mr Torku stated.

He used the opportunity to call on the government to provide the community with potable drinking water. He further stressed the need for the government to construct the road linking to the community.
