Menstruation is a normal thing for women, do not be shy when you menstruate - Girls Advised

As the world celebrates World Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Chief Executive Officer of Abronoma Foundation, a non-profit making organization, Mrs. Linda Nyarko Yeboah has urged girls in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region to keep their heads up as feminine, especially during menstruation.

May 28th is Internationally recognized as Menstrual Hygiene Day celebrated globally under specific themes.

This year's theme is dubbed; *making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030'* and during its commemoration, Mrs. Linda Nyarko and the entire crew of Abronoma Foundation visited girls in some selected Senior High schools within the Jaman North district to raise awareness on better menstrual hygiene and empower the female students to be confident during menstruation.

Mrs. Nyarko Yeboah (who doubles as a Girl Child advocate) emphasized that menstruation is not a disease, nor is it a taboo but rather it is a natural biological experience for women and girls. She also explained that it indicates the transition to womanhood for girls.

She seized the opportunity to donate over 500 Sanitary pads to the girls to encourage them and also indicate that it's no shame to own a sanitary pad and use one when necessary.

Mrs. Nyarko Yeboah educated the girls to ensure hygiene and abstain from sex during menstruation to prevent teenage and unwanted pregnancies.

Some students who benefited from the initiative expressed their joy to the Foundation for reducing the burden on their parents on the purchase of sanitary pads.
