Men encouraged to assist women after childbirth

Men have been encouraged to assist women after childbirth as it comes with various challenges.

The postpartum period begins after the delivery of your baby and ends when your body has nearly returned to its pre-pregnant state.

The midwife in charge of Lying-In at the Bono Regional Hospital, Susana Tiwaa made the comment on Ark FM's ‘Health Matters’  monitored by Soiree News Nana Ama Asiedu on April 7, 2021.

According to her, pregnant women go through difficult experiences to deliver babies hence the need to assist them to rebuild their strengths.

She added that the new mother will need plenty of rest, and good nutrition to enhance postpartum recovery. The absence of help according to the midwife can cause a mental illness known as puerperal psychosis.  Madam Susana also implored new mothers to as a matter of importance practice good personal hygiene.

Touching on child care, Madam Susana advised mothers to allow nature to take its course and not force growth.

A midwife with the Antenatal Care unit at the Bono Regional Hospital, Susana Twumwaa also charged mothers to prioritize the safety of the newborn babies to avoid future deformity.
