Nemanja Matic has questioned his form lately and promised to work hard to be part of his manager's plans for this season.

McTominay has been preferred ahead of Matic in United’s games so far to collaborate Paul Pogba, which has not produced effectiveness in United’s midfield with lots of the errors sourcing from the centre. According to the former Chelsea player, he cannot question his manager’s decision but it is up to him to work hard to be infused in Olé Gunnar Solskjaer tactics once more.

"In the first two or three games he picked the team without me”

"I work as hard as I can. We respect the decision, it's up to me to show him that he was wrong and to bring me back to where I belong.

"There is no problem. I told him I disagreed with him but that he had to decide the team."

He also hit out at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to hold himself responsible if Manchester United end the season in an unusual manner.

The Serbian conveyed the words to the media ahead of their European Qualifier against Portugal on Saturday. "The coach must opt for the team that will fight for the title and if he does not win, he bears the responsibility,” he said.

Matic appeared as a substitute against Southampton on Saturday after being left on the bench against Chelsea, Bournemouth and Palace.

Manchester United are eight on the Premier League table after four games. They recorded their only win against Chelsea by 4-1 in the opening fixtures of the League. They drew against Bournemouth, lost to Palace and played a level game again at the St. Mary’s on Saturday. The Red Devils failure to win the league this year will extend their stretch to six years; haven won their last title in 2013.
