MCE Pledges To Tackle Youths  Unemployed Problems  In Ga Central Communities

The Ga Central Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region has committed investments into government's flagship modules programme of Rearing for Food and Jobs (RFJ) to create sustainable job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the  13 electoral areas within the municipality.

Accoding to the MCE of the area, Mr Mohammed Basiru, the Assemblyis investing in livestock farming and other livestock value-chain business, because they realized that the food sector can help reduce youth unemployment in the municipality.

He pointed out that the Assembly under his administration would continue to
motivate livestock farmers and other livestock value-chain actors to use input and output markets to create employment opportunities for the unemployed youths.

According to the MCE, the role of the government through the Assembly to address youth unemployment is crucial as they provide the "enabling environment" for youth to thrive.

Speaking in an interview with this online news portal in Accra on Wednesday December 29, 2021 to deliver his Christmas and new year's message to his constituents, Mr Basiru stated that his outfit was committed to fighting against youth unemployment problem by setting up a desk to take records of unemployed people in the municipality.

"We are committed of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in 2022 in the 30  electoral areas within the municipality and we want to assure the constituents that the Assembly is focused and the preparations are underway to set up a job creation employment desk to collect  information about the unemployed youths. 

"We are working assiduously to address the Ga Central community's youths unemployment problem by way of investing heavily in agribusiness. We are creating labour market that work better for the youth.

"We have secured lands in the municipality to embark on the agricbusinesses.So we are going to  rear fowls,pigs and other livestocks.
We are going do a lot in the agriculture chain to create job for the people and to provide foods among other things in the municipality," he disclosed.

He said the Assembly was committed to ensure that the people under employed would also have something doing to earn a living  to help fight  poverty in the area.

He pointed out that the Assembly has intensified public education on the safety protocols of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"From time-to-time we have visited the public places like lorry park stations, churches, hospitals, schools, mosques and social gathering premises to educate the people to ensure strict adherence to the COVID-19 pandemic safety protocols," he stated.

According to him, the Assembly has distributed a lot of PPEs to lorry stations, churches, hospitals and schools.

He indicated that at any public gathering programmes, the Assembly insisted the strict adherence of the COVID-19 pandemic safety protocols.

He noted that aside that they have distributed the Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the transport sector within the municipality, saying that all these efforts is geared towards the fight against the spread of the virus in the electoral areas within the municipality.

"I am declaring that very soon, the Assembly is going to institute purntive measures against those who fail to abide by the law of wearing nose masks. We want to ensure that the people respect the strict safety protocols of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are going to use the Assembly taskforce together with the police officers to go round within the municipality to warn food vendors who fail to wear the nose masks before serving the public. 

"And after that when they failed to comply with the directive, l would personal take trouble to ensure recalcitrant food vendors who disobey the COVID-19 pandemic safety protocols are dealt with.

And after we shall go round to effect arrest of those who would not abide the safety protocols.

On the issues of drainage system, the MCE asserted that when he assumed office, he came with the policies of  partnership in  development when the people in communities are not going to sit down to get the recepient of their community development.

He pointed out that he realized that if they are actively involved they would protect whatever development coming into the provisions of the social and infrastructural development or any development that the government is bringing to them.

He indicated that"Once the people in the municipality are involved they would help to protect and maintain any development project and programme coming to their communities.

"For instance there have been the situation at Aworshie stretch of road and that although there was a drain constructed the water was not passing through the drain and that everybody in the area were sitting down unconcerned looking at the running water to pass on the road destroying it.

So when my attention was drawn to the problem l personal organiser some youth in that community over the weekend to dig sand to block passing through the road thereby direct the running water into the drain which helped to fix the problem in the area.

He indicated that after he organized the youth to have the place filled with gravel sand, the road has now become motorable for the use of motorists and commuters.

"You must not sit down for the government or the Assembly to clean the gutters in front of your residential premises or area, it is your personal duties to ensure environmental sanitation around your areas of abode," the MCE stressed.

He called on the people in the municipality to ensure the prevention of the situation where their areas would be dirty.

He stressed the need for the people in his area to ensure personal hygiene in order to prevent them from contracting communicable diseases.
