The Regional Director of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Hajia Zeinab Sallow says MASLOC is doing so well in the Ashanti Region therefore any news of it been liquidated should be discarded by the general public.

She revealed that the recovery rate of 20 constituencies in the Ashanti Region is hundred percent and locations with a few setbacks are where they lack an office and staff.

“We have trained and educated people on MASLOC finances that they are not kept forever. It’s a loan and must be paid. We have more than 20 constituencies in the Ashanti Region whose recovery is 100 percent. Constituencies that lack issues are places we lack staff and offices.

The Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Treasurer made the revelation at the Tafo Pankrono Constituency of the New Patriotic Party’s Campaign Launch ahead of the 2020 election at the Tafo Methodist Church on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in the Ashanti Region.

MASLOC is part of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo initiatives to provide micro and small loans for start-ups and small businesses with fast, easy and accessible microcredit and small loans to grow and expand businesses as well as to enhance job and wealth creation.

With a loyal interest rate, the approach has renovated lives yet a few setbacks decelerated the movement due to the lack of offices and staff at certain constituencies. The creation of the Nation Builders Corp (NABCO) according to Hajia Zeinab has been beneficial by providing the microfinance a workforce to communicate with customers on payment methods.

“The interest rate is one percent which means when a woman is given GH₵ 1000 as a loan, the interest rate at the end of the year will be GH₵167, a GH₵10 cedis interest rate. There is no woman in this country who will not earn a profit more than this when she invest GH₵1000 cedis in a business.

“We have educated them and majority of women have been transformed by MASLOC. We have no issues in the Ashanti Region. MASLOC is doing so well in the Region and we are moving forward,” she said.

Hajia presented out the various strategies of the microfinance ahead of the coming years revealing that MASLOC’s focus is to be involved in the president’s flagship programme of planting for food and jobs. She detailed how poultry farmers are receiving their share of the benefit and the intention of embarking on constructing markets to cover a broader percentage of traders.

“The number of people in the Region is countless so we have decided to give the loan to 250 people in each constituency.

“Our vision this year is to build bigger markets in the Ashanti Region and invest in the traders on pilot basis. By the end of eight years, we would have covered and satisfied the needs of majority of the traders.

“One key project we have decided to embark is investing in the President’s initiative of planting for food and jobs. We have given poultry farmers in each district 20,000. As at now, 24 people have received theirs and rest are yet to. 100,000 market women have been granted loans and they are all making greater efforts in payment.

Hajia Zeinab commended the works of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and called on all stakeholders to be ready to work hard in the election for another four-year term for the New Patriotic Party.

She outlined the benefits Zongo communities have reaped and assured that the next four years will be massive and nobody can halt victory from the hands of the New Patriotic Party.

“2020 is an election year and we have laced our boot. Nana will go for another four years. We will put every effort in place to win power this year. Nana Addo promised to attend to the Zongo Youth. He has fulfilled that and provided us with a Ministry.

“The Zongo Development fund and scholarship is contributing so well to the welfare of Zongo youth and women.

“Nobody can stop it. We in Ashanti Region will do everything possible to take Nana to the next level. He has done a lot to move the Nation forward. Talk of Agric, Free Education, Nurses Allowances, NABCO, MASLOC and many others are all part of Nana Addo’s product. No one has a message than we do,” she ended.
