Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu

The Executive Director of Governance think-tank, Alliance for Social Equity, and Public Accountability (ASEPA), says if the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu cannot investigate and prosecute John Mahama "then he has been useless in office."

Mr Thompson Mensah said nothing stops the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu from probing and prosecuting the the NDC's flagbearer, John Mahama.

"If Martin Amidu cannot investigate and prosecute John Mahama, he had no business disclosing the identity of the government official one. He has no basis to make that conclusion," he said, speaking on Kumasi-based Akoma FM as quoted by Pulsegh.

Meanwhile, the Special Prosecutor had in the Agyapa risk Assessment report complained that "the only reason the former President [Mahama] has not been invited for interrogation (in spite of all threats from some of his followers and lawyers) is the fact that he got himself an insurance as the Presidential candidate of the other largest political party in Ghana."

He also argued that "prudence dictated that the interrogation be held in abeyance during this election season."

However Mr John Dramani Mahama in response described the Martin Amidu as a "coward" for mentioning him in the corruption risk assessment report on the Agyapa Minerals Royalties deal.

Mahama suggested that it was unnecessary for his name and the Airbus Scandal be included in a risk assessment of an unreIated Agyapa deal.
