Manchester United are reportedly prepared to offer Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka a considerable wage boost to bring him to Old Trafford next season.

Goretzka’s contract expires next summer and various sources suggest that the Bundesliga winners are struggling to tie him down to a new deal.

The Red Devils aim to win their first Premier League title since 2013,

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been busy in the transfer market to ensure that Man United return back to their glory days.

They have already completed a deal for another Bundesliga star, with Jadon Sancho joining from Borussia Dortmund, while the club are working on bringing in Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

Initial discussions earlier this summer have not progressed and Bayern are apparently unwilling to match his wage demands.

Several outlets have stated that the 26-year-old is demanding €20m per season with Bayern only willing to offer half that amount.

It is unclear at this moment in time how much United are willing to offer, but it is thought they are willing to get closer to Goretzka’s demands.

United prolific midfielder Paul Pogba’s contract situation is also far from clear, his deal is also set to expire next summer and could potentially exit Old Trafford for free for the second time.

This potentially explains why the Red Devils are extremely keen on bringing in Goretzka, who could fill the void the French superstar may create should he leave this summer or the next.
