The 26-year-old man who severely beat his three-year old son for bedwetting in Kumasi has been handed a 24 months jail sentence.

Ebenezer Osei Bonsu, also has to sign a four-year bond of good behaviour, reports from Joyonline indicates.

The accused will serve additional four years in jail if he is to break his bond of good behaviour.

In coming out with the sentence, the judge Patricia Amponsah explained in court Wednesday that she took into consideration the age of the victim, remorse shown by the accused and the fact that the child will need both parents to take care of him.

She said it is in the best interest of the child that his father is not taken away for a long time.

Bonsu is said to have used a cable and a cane to whip the child, causing injuries to his head and back.

His three-year-old son was as a result hospitalised
