The Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams has sentenced a 36 year old unemployed, Kwadwo Gyimah to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for possession of narcotic drugs without authority, contrary to section 2(1) of the PNDC law 236/90.

The accused, who was arrested at Akim Swedru on January 9, 2019, for possessing 111 wrappers folded in the blown newspaper which weighs 134.98 tested positives for cannabis and another 10 wrappers of heroin, pleaded guilty to the charge and he was convicted on his plea.

Kwadwo Yirenkyi, his accomplices, who supplied the narcotic drug was absent from court but was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour, while Apraku Michael who is at Large was also charged for resisting lawful arrest also assaulted a public Officer was also given 10-year jail term by the court.

Brief fact presented by Chief Inspector James Essel stated, that the complainants are police officers in Oda Division and they arrested the accused persons on January 10, 2019, based on a tip-off at Akyem Swedru in their daily routine.
