A-26-year old unemployed has been slapped with a-15-year jail term for the robbery of a Sonlink motorbike contrary to section 149 of the criminal offences Act 1960, Act 29.

The court, presided over by His Honour Simon Gaga per the brief facts, found the accused, Glikpo Lucky guilty and subsequently slapped him with a 15-year jail term in hard labour.

Prior to slapping Glikpo Lucky with the sentence, the Judge remarked that "I have taken his case into consideration seeing he is 26 years. I have therefore sentenced him to 15 years".

The further ordered the prosecution to release the motorbike to the owner, upon production of document and same,verified by the registrar of the court. Prosecuting: Presenting the Inspector Dorcas Ofosua Investigative case, ASP Dorothy B. Pepra told the court that the complainant, Stephen Nartey aged 26 is a commercial motor rider popularly known as Okada whilst the accused person Glikpo Lucky also aged 26 is unemployed. They both live at Ashaiman. She told the court that on 29-01-2023, the complainant was in charge of a Sonlink motorbike with registration number M-22-GE 4132 black in colour which he operates within Ashaiman and its environs. She further told the court that, at about 8:30 pm the same day, the accused hired the services of the complainant from Roman Down Ashaiman to Promiseland, Adjei Kojo. She told the court that upon reaching the destination, the accused person with the intent to overcome the resistance of the complainant to steal the said motorbike, pushed him to the ground and snatched the motorbike from him. She advanced that the accused person then took the exhibit(motorbike) to his house at Katamanso, Ashaiman, and removed the registered number plate from the motorbike. She told the court that on 30-01-2023, the accused person rode the motorbike to Akatsi, Volta Region with the intent to sell but he was apprehended by police at Akatsi and subsequently transferred to Adjei Adjei Police District, Ashaiman. The said motorbike is currently in the possession of the Police. After investigations, the accused was charged with the offence and arraigned before the court leading to his conviction.
