Mali invites Akufo-Addo to witness reopen of parliament

The first deputy speaker of the General Assembly of the Republic of Mali, Assarid Ag Imbarcaouane on behalf of the President of the transitional team (speaker of Mali) has invited the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo as a guest in the reopening of their parliament after an interruption of its democracy by a coup d’état.

Presenting the invitation via Ghana’s parliament, the deputy speaker of the General Assembly of the Republic of Mali, declared that he has been sent by the President of the National Transition Team of Mali.

Welcoming the Malian delegation, the Minority Leader in Ghana’s, Haruna Iddrisu called on the Malians to consider inviting Ghana's parliament to assist them to relook at their constitution and other laws to enriched the democracy we are all looking for.

Also, the Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annor Dompreh sided with the Minority Leader by suggesting to the delegation from Mali to consider the call of Haruna Iddrisu.

The speaker of parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, during his welcoming address to the first deputy speaker of Mali, assured the delegation that, Ghana's parliament will do all it can to be present at the reopening of their parliament.

According to the speaker of Ghana, he will go to Mali with some of the MPs and staff of the house and hope to return home safely.

He said the parliament of Ghana is ready to support the Chairman of ECOWAS and President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to restore the democracy in Mali.
