The Presidential candidate of the NDC in the 2020 election said the fight against corruption was a major campaign message of the then-candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in 2016 but has absolutely lost control of the fight.

 Former President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has ended his one day 'thank you tour' in the Northern Region, with a call on Akufo Addo to go by his campaign promises.

Mr Mahama and his entourage including some former government appointees climaxed the day-long tour with a stakeholder meeting at the Global Dream Hotel.

Addressing Journalists before the tour, he slammed President Akufo Addo for abandoning his promise of using the ‘Anas Principle’ in the fight against corruption in his government.

He said the fight against corruption was a major campaign message of the then-candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in 2016 but has absolutely lost control of the fight.

“It was the central plank of Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign in 2016 and that was his major instrument of dealing with corruption, apart from in the debate where he said he will use the Anas’ principle, as for the Anas Principle, he has abandoned it”.

He, therefore, mimic the President to be bold and confident to use the principles in curbing the canker.

The President in 2016 had pledged to adopt the style of journalism practised by ace Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas in dealing decisively with corruption.

The principle used by the investigative journalist is to name and shame persons caught in his investigations engaging in corruption.

Mr Mahama further promised to create jobs for the teaming Ghanaian youth when elected into office in the next elections.

As part of the tour, he paid a courtesy call on the overlord of the Dagbon Traditional Area, Ya Na Abubakar II at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, Yoo Naa, Mion Lana, Nyab Sagnari Naa and other Chiefs in Tamale.
