Madina Main  Lorry Station Boils -As Drivers Threaten To Occupy Madina Streets
Drivers operating at Madina station main bus terminal in the La-Nkwantanan Municipal Assembly of the Greater Accra Region have given authorities one week ultimatum to stop recalcitrant drivers from turning the streets into a loading bay.
They have equally threatened to block all major streets and turn them into permanent lorry stations if state authorities fail to preclude drivers from operating on the streets.
The bus terminal at Madina is owned by a private company and it was constructed under Private Partnership Participation.
It was intended to provide a permanent bus terminal for members of the driver unions, yet that vision seems to be foiled and nulled
However, the drivers have persistently refused to operate from the main station instead turning the streets to loading bay.
Chairman of the Amot transport owners union at Madina,  Mohamed Seidu speaking to the media in Accra accused the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police service and the LaNkwantanan Municipal Assembly for reneging on their duties and allowing the drivers to operate illegally on the streets.
Madina Drivers Committee chairman Ernest Iham equally insisted that if they will charge the drivers to operate from the street as well if authorities fails to act within the one week ultimatum.
Some of the drivers expressed their disappointment in the authorities.
