In an articulation of being feared, worried or frightened of losing the parliamentary seat of the Lower West Akim Constituency of the Eastern Region, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gurus were accused of secretly sponsoring some self seeking elements within the NDC to petition vetting committee against some of the parliamentary hopefuls of the NDC.
These elements have targeted the aspiring candidate who is generally tipped to win the upcoming NDC parliamentary slot to lead the party to win the Lower West Akim seat.

According to the information available to Soireenews.com, these self seeking elements within the NDC were sponsored by the NPP gurus to exhibit these evil tactics against this potential winning parliamentary candidate for the NDC.
They feared that if he wins the upcoming primaries, he would definitely wrestle the Lower West Akim parliamentary seat from the NPP in the 2024 general elections.
The NPP was reported to have done series of surveys in Lower West Akim and realized that the majority of eligible voters in the various electoral areas in the constituency have already developed affection for that NDC parliamentary hopeful and have mustered courage to declare their position to vote for him to win the seat from the NPP, if he elected the NDC parliamentary candidate in the primaries.
This situation has informed the decision of the NPP gurus to secretly hire services of these petitioners of the NDC  to defame this parliamentary hopeful, ostensibly for the vetting committee to disqualify him but their evils plot have been identified and that the concerned NDC faithful(s) vowed that these evils plot of the NPP has failed.
The Lower West Akim Constituency Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed in an interview with Soireeenews.com on Saturday April 8,2024 confirmed the secret move of the NPP gurus and launched campaign against the NDC parliamentary aspirant being sponsored by the NPP gurus.
"My attention has been drawn to the move by the NPP gurus of sponsoring a parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the NDC to win the slot which would make it easy for the NPP to win and retain the Lower West Akim parliamentary seat in the 2024 general election," he confirmed.
He maintained that "we have not downplayed with the rumors at all, even though we have not gotten any tangible evidence. We have suspected the posture of that person.
"And we believe that everything that may be there would be some iota of true in it," he added.
He assured that "as the leadership of the Lower West Akim Constituency of the NDC, we have also started doing our investigations into matter to unravel the truth."
He maintained that "any information that l have in the regard to these remours l would make sure that l would make it available to the vetting committee to scrutinize that person."
On the measures to calm down the supporters and members of the NDC concerning the issues of the vetting of the NDC parliamentary candidates, Mr Mohammed stressed that the peace corrective measures he is trying to put in.place were left with him and his constituency executives to decide.
He maintained that the situation has informed his decision call for an emergency constituency executives meeting today Saturday April 8, 2023, 2 o'clock PM to address some of these pressing concerns being raised in the petition against the contestants.
The chairman was quick to deny that he was not aware of report of threat of some members and delegates to invoke river deities against those who faked their names into the said petitions without their knowledge and consents.
You say there are threats from persons whose names were faked onto the petitions to invoke river deities against those who had faked their names, l must say that l have no knowledge and information about that," the chairman stressed.
"It is true that we went to the vetting and because there were petitions against all the contestants and unfortunately some of them were not have the copies of the petitions before they appeared," he noted.
Following this development, Mr Mohammed  pointed out that the Secretary of the Vetting Committee or the NDC Elections Director was directed by the panel to make copies of the petitions available to the NDC parliamentary aspirants.
This, according to the Chairman, "was done so that the aspirants would read the petitions brought against them and then come to meet the vetting committee over the issues."
He pointed out that they received a complaint from the one of the members of the NDC who came to the Lower West Akim Constituency office in Asamankese.
He noted that that person came to report that he has an evidence that those who wrote the petitions, have forged names into the petitions for which they were not aware.
The chairman gave assurance that he has called for an emergency constituency executive meeting today to ensure that the peace prevail in the matter, adding that We have having an emergency meeting today to be looking at these matters."
When asked that is it any assurance that the parliamentary hopefuls are going to be approved by the vetting committee, the Chairman stated that he did not have the mandate to say that they would be approved.
According to him, he is not a member of the vetting committee, adding that "l believe that the committee would look carefully into the petitions and dealt with the issues contained in the petitions.
He pointed out that "for me l cannot say that all of the parliamentary hopefuls would get the mandate to run on the ticket of the NDC in the area."
He maintained that the mandate to approve the individual aspiring to become the parliamentary candidate have solely depends on the members of the vetting committee.
"So l believe that the the vetting committee would do justice to the petitions brought against the contestants.
As if one have merit in it, l believe the members of the vetting committee are competent persons to do justice to the petitions, and l strongly believe that they would do justice to it, so for me l am not in a position to say that they would clear them to contest the primaries on the ticket of the NDC," he stressed.
