Samuel Mensah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghanaian bakery in Tottenham and rapper known by his stage name "Xploder" has died.

According to the Mirror, he passed away from the deadly coronavirus.

The much-loved CEO of Uncle John's Bakery and co-founder of Dope Black Dads, a podcast and social campaign which focuses on modern Black fatherhood died at the age of 35.

GRM Daily reported that the famous black rapper/CEO, known for appearing on grime tracks like Mission Riddim alongside his brother D Dark, Scrufizzer, Lady Lykez, Roachee, Maxsta and Zeph Ellis, as well D Dark's Be Smart Remix with Ms Banks and Scrufizzer, had been giving free loaves of bread to NHS workers during the coronavirus pandemic in a bid to help play his part in the United Kingdom's battle against the Coronavirus.

Samuel also presented the podcast Dope Black Dads, which talks about modern Black fatherhood. His fans have been taking to Twitter to pay tribute to him and send their condolences to his family.

He took over Uncle John’s Bakery six years ago at the age of 29, with a vision to expand the bakery’s profile. His parents, John and Emelia Mensah, opened the business in 1995, and it soon became a Tottenham institution, bringing Ghanaian bread, cakes and sweet treats to the neighbourhood.

It was featured in Forbes’ list of 30 black-owned businesses to support in 2021. Uncle John’s Bakery has also been featured in The Guardian, Vice, Seasoned Buzzfeed, and Melan Mag.

Tributes have been flooding in for the well-loved business owner, social campaigner and musician.

Nigerian restaurant Chuku’s, also based in Tottenham, took to Twitter to say:

‘We are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Samuel Mensah, Uncle John's Bakery’s CEO. He scaled up his family's business and contributed greatly to the diaspora community and the wider Tottenham community’.

Actor and director Femi Oyeniran said, ‘RIP to Samuel Mensah aka Xploder. Condolences to the family, especially D Dark in this difficult. Known these brothers from secondary school. It was beautiful to see the greatness that he achieved in the business world with Uncle John’s Bakery. Love and light.’
