Eddie Nartey, Actor and Producer

Ghanaian Actor, Eddie Nartey has appealed to TV stations to promote Local movies over the foreign ones on their channels.

In a discussion with  Mamavi Owusu Aboagye on the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM, the talented actor expressed that he believe very well that the emphasis of the foreign movies on TV stations has subsidized to the downfall of the Ghana movie Industry in the sense that, many people invests more in the foreign content.

He explained that many TV stations don’t buy the local movies even if they love it, they would ask for partnership and if producers disagree, the stattion ask them to go and get their own sponsors. The film producer uttered that the local movies can generate more investments and advertisement than the foreign contents if things are put in place.

“You do a television series and they would not buy it. Even if they love it, they will tell you ‘let’s do a partnership or go and look for your sponsors and let us look for ours’, obviously they have sponsors on board already so they just put it up and the producer may have to show it for free.”

“Indians or Nigerians will not show at peak a Ghanaians film but because they buy it cheap, they just use it anytime. if a producer makes a movie and gets his profit in return, he would not have a problem making more and constantly feeding Ghanaians with content,” he added.
