Liverpool will play Champions League second leg at the Puskas Arena

The decision is because of the travel restrictions in Germany to prevent imports of new, more contagious mutations of the virus.

Liverpool have confirmed that the Champions League second-leg tie against RB Leipzig will be played in Budapest.

The Reds won by 2-0 at the Puskas Arena in the Hungarian capital after two second-half goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane on February 16, 2021.

Liverpool were expected to host the second leg at Anfield yet COVID-19 regulations in Germany has prevented RB Leipzig from travelling to play in the United Kingdom hence the decision for the Reds to comply with the situation.

Germany on Saturday implemented travel restrictions from five countries with coronavirus mutations — Brazil, South Africa, the U.K., Ireland and Portugal, Politico reported.

The Interior Minister, Horst Seehofer announced last Thursday that Germany was preparing new restrictions to prevent imports of new, more contagious mutations of the virus and it was taking the step alone and wasn't expecting a "European solution to be found in the foreseeable future that also meets our expectations," he said.

The game comes off on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
