The Western Naval Command has today despite the rainfall has remembered officers who lost their lives in the Liberia war decades ago.

At the height of the devastating Liberian Civil War, Ghana Navy Service (GNS) locals set to fly to Liberia and joined the Ghanaian contingent, ECOWAS taskforce that was said to help resolve peace in Liberia.

The fallen Naval officers were said to have known the risk involved in the operation and yet sailed freely in obedience.

The Commanding Flag Office of the Western Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Walker addressing the dignitaries said the memorial service held today was to honour the brave Naval Personnel who lost their lives in active service.

The caretaker for Mpohor District Assembly, Hon Ignatius Assah Mensah on behalf of the western regional minister, Hon. Kobby Otchere Darko-Mensah as the guest of honour hinted that plans are far advanced to acquire additional boats for the navy in support of tremendous work on Ghana waters.
