Let's define our divine call as nurses to restore our defaced dignity - Student midwife urges

Nurses and midwives have been advised to desist from acts that tarnish the image of the noble profession to the eye of the public.

According to Ms Elizabeth Omechey, leader of student midwives from the Kumasi Komfo Anokye Nursing and Midwifery training college who undertook a sensitisation program at Bremang and its environs, it's high time nurses desist from making names that tarnish the image of the profession.

She revealed that the nursing profession is a divine call that needs to define itself to suit God's will. She however entreated every nurse to make sure the work always reflects the call.

She also seized the opportunity to advise the general public to desist from self-medication practice and also learn to observe the covid 19 protocol all the time.

Ms Omechey said this in an exclusive interview with Nana Peprah when the assembly member for the Tantinka Doctor Donkor Fordjour Electoral area in Bremang- Kumasi, Nana Obour Sika teamed up with student nurses and midwives from the Komfo Anokye Nursing and Midwifery Training College to undertake a one-day community engagement for the residents of Breman and its environs.

The program which sought to educate participants on the need to observe covid-19 safety protocols also aimed to educate the general public on the need to avoid self medications.

Participants also enjoyed tips on how to keep their environments clean.

Speaking in an interview, the assembly member, Hon Obuor Sika explained that, the community engagement with the student nurses had been an interesting and educative one since it really thought participants many life preventive measures.

Notwithstanding that alone, Hon Obuor Sika donated sewing machines and other items to artisans within the electoral area to enable them to work effectively.

Explaining his motive behind the organisation, the Assemblymember revealed that there was the need to enlighten members of his electoral area on some health tips and also encourage them to make it known to artisans that their output is worth a great profit for the country's socio-economic development, hence his reasons to present them sowing machines, hairdryers etc.
