Lasmid explains why he chose to perform mostly in English rather than Fante

Lasmid, a musician and songwriter from Ghana, has explained why he chose to sing in English as opposed to his native Fante tongue.

Lasmid is one of the performers from the Fanteland. Lasmid has stated that he didn't intend to perform in Fante, contrary to what many people believed he would do like Kofi Kinaata.

He said, "Big shout-outs to Papa Kaywa because sometimes he prefers that I do my Fante raps. I didn't plan with my management to perform mostly in English."

The "Friday Night" hitmaker explained why he doesn't sing in Fante in an exclusive interview with Amansan Krakye for Showbiz on Property, explaining that he believes not everyone will comprehend if he does.

Not everyone will be able to comprehend the Fante language because some people who speak Twi do not even understand the Fante language, he continued.

We came to the conclusion that if this is the case, why don't I perform all of my songs in English? Because sometimes people from other tribes who don't understand Twi will understand you perfectly when you speak English.
